Spoke today with mom of Rebekah's soccer teammate. That girl is a year younger. Her 2nd grade teacher is the same Ms. Idiot that we had to deal with last year. As soon as that mom heard that we had Ms. Idiot last year, she began asking me all these questions about her. Turns out, in less then one month of school, Ms. Idiot managed to yell at that girl twice. Once for spilling her grapes during snack time. In addition, they have already received numerous notes home regarding her daughters "behavioral problems". This woman told me in response to one of the Ms. Idiot's notes, she wrote "My daughter does not respond well to yelling."
She asked me how we handled that teacher. Told her that for us, problems did not really start until the last 2,5 months of school, but we spend a lot of time talking directly to the principal; not that it changed anything. Also told her that towards the end I was completely ignoring all of the notes sent home by Ms. Idiot and was just happy that Rebekah did not finish the school year with any major self-esteem issues.
For myself, found out that this woman has another 2nd grader (twin brother) and he is with a different teacher whom she also does not like too much, although not as bad as Ms. Idiot. Made a mental note to find out who is the best 2nd grade teacher is to make sure that Hannah gets into that class next year.
