Почему у меня всё с бухты барахты и в последнюю минуту?  Но, лучше в последнюю, чем после неё, правильно?

Нет, я совсем не удивлена,

но безумно рада и горда. 

Ребеку приняли в программу для одарённых детей, для которой она сдавала экзамен в Июне.  Сегодня пришло письмо.  После того как мы с ней перестали прыгать по комнате как две лошади и визжать от радости, Ребека мне выдала "Mom, thank you for helping me study." "No sweetheart, it was you who did the hard part."  Сияние в глазах.  Ребеке кто-то сказал в Июне, когда она сдавала тот экзамен, что в эту программу в прошлом году попало всего шесть детей из 3го класса при учёте что у них в школе 6-7 паралельных классов по 25 человек.  Ребека очень хотела попасть в эту программу.  Ну очень хотела.  ОЧЕНЬ хотела.  А сегодня после нашего прыганья говорит что она себе решила что не смотря на то что это была такая тяжёлая работа (!) готовится к экзамену и потом его писать, она себе решила что если не попадёт будет на следующий год пытатся ещё раз.  Потом подумала и добавила что хорошо что она попала туда сейчас потому что совсем не хочет ещё раз готовится к экзамену.  Вот только я не знаю или она должна каждый год на эту программу подавать (и сдавать экзамен).  Не думаю, но надо будет узнать.

Посмотрела что они будут учить в этой программе для одарёных.

• Taxonomy of Higher Thinking Skills: Evaluation, Synthesis, Analysis, Application, Comprehension, Knowledge
• Thinking Skills Affective Component: Risk Taking, Curiosity, Complexity, Imagination
• Mentorship: In addition to the curriculum units mentioned above, the Enrichment Program is also proud to offer its Mentorship program to enrichment students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. This past year, Students met with each mentor for three sessions in small groups, and were able to experience first hand the world of drama, and the science behind sound and music! Our two talented mentors this year were Mr. Robert Veech and Mr. Gene Forman.
  • Mr. Veech is an accomplished musician, teacher, scientist and inventor. He holds over 100 patents in his name and has worked for many years as a presenter for Long Island's Conference for Kids. He has also worked with students in many school districts and BOCES programs across Long Island. After taking part in this year's Mentorship, students came away with a better understanding of how sound is created and the wonders of music, instruments, and symphonies.
  • Mr. Gene Forman is a successful stage director, writer, and actor. He has appeared in dozens of television commercials and programs such as Saturday Night Live, All My Children, and Survivor. Students rose to the challenge of performing in front of their peers and learned valuable public speaking skills that will no doubt help them when speaking or performing in front of an audience.
