Oh, how fucking true this is.

Speaking of PwC.  They have fucked themselves up majorly this year.  They practically have no senior associates for this coming busy season.   Over the last 1.5 years they have canceled all bonuses and most raises and promotions and thus a ton of people left the firm. So now, they hired a consulting firm to supply them with these consultants who in turn has various recruiters hunting monster.com and carrierbulder.com for PwC alumni and also pulling people off the street to work as consultants from December through April and manager their new associates.  How do I know this?  I have an annoying recruiter who does not understand "No!" when I tell him that I have no interest in going back to PwC ever again.  He actually had me interview with the consulting firm.  OMG, they are so desperate.

However, being desperate and understanding that you have to pay people decent money if you want them to work - are two different things.  The way they structured this consulting agreement is just mind boggling.  The consulting firm hires you as a salaried employee and then lends you to PwC on hourly basis.  You have to sign something where you agree to work at least 60 hours per week with possibility of weeks as long as 80-100 hours.  They do not know what clients, in which locations, in what industries PwC will stick you in.

Because you are a consultant and working overtime, PwC will be paying to the consulting firm time and a half for all your overtime hours.  However, because you are salaried at the consulting firm guess how much overtime you will be getting?  That's right.  Nada, zilch, zero! The best they are promising is to match my old salary for 4 months. And, all this joyous employment is over come April.  And my recruiter does not seem to understand why I am not jumping for joy and not snatching up this job opportunity.

On the other hand, Adam spoke with PwC auditor the other day (PwC is auditing his company) and that auditor said that PwC is so desperate that she is willing to split with me her $10K referral fee if I will come back.

I have only one response to that: big fat middle finger!

It really is more then it used to be. They used to have referral fee of $3K for senior or below and $5K for manager or above. They really must be desparate since they highked it up like that.

The vidio is just precious though.

А вот интересно, они правда считают, что 10К и цирк с конями (т.е. с консультантами) решат проблему?

I don't have a clue, but is what is going on there right now. The consulting firm is trying just as hard to get a hold of me as my recruiter. I think the consulting firm agreed (i.e. signed a contract) to supply x number of consultants and now they are trying to get people to agree to this dog and pony show. If at least they paid good money for this and paid overtime with reasonable base rate (maybe $50-60/hr plus overtime) it would make more sense, but what they offering is just insane. Recruiter says that they offering salary based on experience. When I pushed for some numbers, he said something about $40-45 an hour and no overtime. From my experience, when they give you the range, they basically saying you will be getting the bottom of that range and for $40 an hour it is just not worth it to me and many other people.

Exactly! I still cannot understand what they tryied to accomplish with their stratagy when they stopped paying bonuses and raises and did they really think that people will stay just because they are PwC.
